Pressure Is on New Orleans Pelicans to Make the Leap Alongside Anthony Davis

Oct 30 2014 12:55am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

Anthony Davis is already a star. The next step is putting that stardom to use.  Davis graced the surface of greatness last year, his second NBA season, averaging 20.8 points, 10.0 rebounds and a league-leading 2.8 blocks per game while making his first (and certainly not last) All-Star appearance. Still, New Orleans struggled all year, finishing 12th in the West and winning just 34 games.  Tuesday night, the 21-year-old Davis began his season wowing anyone who was willing to turn off ...

Q+A: Caron Butler

Oct 29 2014 3:08pm CDT | Source: slamonline

Caron Butler is getting set for his 13th season in the NBA, this with his eighth team. Wednesday night, when the Pistons take on the Nuggets to open their 2014-15 campaign, Butler will be the oldest player to suit up for Detroit, at 34 years old. It’s hardly the end of Butler’s career—just last May, the 6-7 forward was a key rotation piece for the Oklahoma City Thunder, who lost in the Western Conference Finals to the eventual champion Spurs—but CB knows that his ...

3 reasons to believe the Lakers are secretly tanking

Oct 29 2014 9:33am CDT | Source: SBNation

The Lakers can't be this bad on purpose, unless it's part of an ingenious plot. Several major, smart NBA analysts have wondered aloud if the L.A. Lakers might be secretly, sneakily tanking the season, unbeknownst to anyone. (Remember: they owe their first-round pick to the Suns unless it falls in the top five). Zach Lowe is the latest to mention the possibility. Kevin Pelton was one ...

Age vs. Beauty: Why Prigioni Deserves the Nod over Larkin in Knicks Backcourt

Oct 28 2014 1:39pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

It seems to happen every other game, but often so quickly that the television cameras miss it. The New York Knicks score and trot into the backcourt, except for Pablo Prigioni, who lingers. He lurks. Quietly, he stalks his man from behind. The ball is inbounded and Prigioni pounces, lunging to jar it loose and off the leg of the opponent. The ref signals: Knicks ball. It's the quintessential Prigioni play. For two seasons, the wily Argentine veteran has been the be ...

Fantasy Basketball 2014: Top Player Rankings and Underrated Sleepers

Oct 28 2014 9:00am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

There are few things more exciting on draft day in fantasy basketball than landing that coveted superstar in the early going, but the path to a championship may be managing your team like the San Antonio Spurs. Just look at last year’s NBA Finals—the Miami Heat had the premier superstar in LeBron James, but it was the Spurs' group of complementary pieces that took care of business in a quick five games. Like the ...

Which Los Angeles Clipper Will See the Biggest Role Shift in 2014-15?

Oct 27 2014 6:00pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

A philosophical shift in the Los Angeles Clippers offense has been building for years, and this season should be the one where the shift is complete. Blake Griffin is ready for an expanded role, one that should at least split offensive playmaking responsibilities with Chris Paul. This is no slight to Paul, who had his best season since 2008-09, averaging 19.1 points, 10.7 assists and 2.5 steals per game in 2013-14. Certainly he is capable of leading a dynamic offense, as he helped transform ...
