Sep 22 2014 7:42am CDT | Source: SBNation

That and much, much more in Monday's NBA newsletter. Good morning. Let's basketball. BLEDNOPE: There was a rumor that the Timberwolves were impressing themselves into the Eric Bledsoe situation. That rumor appears to be trumped up. Training camp is getting awful close, Suns and EB. SPEAKING OF THE WOLVES ... Minnesota and Ricky Rubio are apparently having rocky extension talks. Too bad David Kahn isn't still around, he would have already dropped the five-year ...

Closing the Gap

Sep 17 2014 2:44pm CDT | Source: slamonline

OK, rest of the world. Time to cry “uncle” already. I’m an American, who appreciates winning, steak, Will Ferrell, and all the rest of it. But I am tiring of this headlock Team USA has every other nation in. On Sunday, the United States beat Serbia 129-92 in a FIBA World Cup title game that after six minutes held about as much drama as Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. The US has now reeled off 63 straight wins, a run ...

FIBA World Cup 2014: Predictions for Semifinal and Championship Game

Sep 12 2014 11:00am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

We started with 24 teams at the 2014 FIBA World Cup, but only three remain. It’s not exactly the three we expected, either. Gone is Spain with the Gasol brothers, Serge Ibaka and Rudy Fernandez. Gone is Brazil with Anderson Varejao, Tiago Splitter and Nene Hilario. Instead, the powerhouse United States is joined by upstart Serbia and a France squad playing without Tony Parker. So how will the rest of the tournament ...

FIBA World Cup 2014: TV Schedule, Live Stream, Semifinal Prediction for Day 12

Sep 12 2014 6:00am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

Friday's semifinal matchup between France and Serbia will determine who faces Team USA for the 2014 FIBA World Cup gold medal. Either way, it's not the contest everyone expected. France verified the old adage about assuming by shocking Spain in the quarterfinals. Without Tony Parker and Joakim Noah, it has a shot of competing for the championship. First, France must overcome Serbia, another unlikely semifinal contestant. Heading into the tournam ...
