Where in Europe?

Aug 24 2014 3:27pm CDT | Source: Bike Forums

hi all, I am contemplating a very long tour, starting in Europe, going eastwards. Europe is the right place for me to start in terms of timing (starting, say, June 1), and culture and language, and ease for the first few months of a tour. I am interested in almost everywhere in Europe, but I would prioritize: (1) good riding, (2) landscapes including mountains, valleys, and water features, (3) interesting history, (4) cost. For the sake of cost, and the sake of novelty, I would like to ...

The Master and Margarita showed me just how easy it is to mess up a nation

Aug 19 2014 12:00pm CDT | Source: the guardian

I was teaching English (very badly), barely coping with temperatures of -15C and fighting a losing battle with the Russian language. This book made me realise I was not going to give up. And that I really wanted to be ...

Spiritual sensations

Jul 23 2014 10:00pm CDT | Source: Spectator Magazine

Kazimir Malevich (1879–1935) is one of the founding fathers of Modernism, and as such entirely deserves the in-depth treatment with which this massive new Tate show honours him.
