Tegucigalpa (Honduras), June 14 (IANS/CMC) Theodore Whitmore, who says he will resign as Jamaica's head coach after their 0-2 defeat to Honduras, has complained that inadequate preparation time and the loss of key players condemned his team to the cellar position in the final round of qualification for next year's football World Cup in Brazil.

Jamaica's defeat to Honduras Tuesday, their fourth successive World Cup qualifying loss and third in eight days, has put the 'Reggae Boyz' on the brink of elimination.

Jamaica is rooted at the bottom of the standings after failing to win a match in six outings in CONCACAF final round World Cup Qualifying (WCQ).

"What we have we just have to work with it. It is not like we have a team where we can work around the clock," Whitmore explained.

"We lost some key players, some influential players and this has brought us to the position we are in now, but it is football and a situation we can't do anything about."
