New Brooklyn Nets head coach Jason Kidd's NBA colleagues say he'll succeed in his new role.

A June 15 report from the Associated Press notes former teammates, players and coaches think Kidd has the credibility to thrive as an NBA head coach. One longtime assistant coach, Brendan Suhr says Kidd's pedigree should resonate well with the Nets players.

"He's going to have incredible credibility with his players, which is huge.

"He'll be fine. He's handled accountability before."

Suhr added that one of Kidd's main priorities needs to be hiring experienced assistants to "fill in the gaps that you don't have."

Denver Nuggets point guard Andre Miller says Kidd's accomplishments during his esteemed NBA career should earn the respect of everyone.

"When I first heard they were considering it, I was like, 'Wow, that's respect.' He's a hall of famer in everybody's mind and he's accomplished everything that you can accomplish as a point guard, as a person, in life and as a teammate. When you have that type of respect of your peers, and of management, coaches, you know the sky's the limit."

Miller's teammate, Andre Iguodala wasn't surprised at all with Kidd's hiring.

"Why not bring in a coach who just got done playing, especially a guy like Jason Kidd who has helped teammates get better throughout his career. It wasn't just by his presence on the court but his presence every day, his presence off the court, in practice, making guys buy into something they weren't used to buckling down and doing, so I'm not surprised at all."

Renowned names all around the NBA sounded off on social media following Kidd's hire. The Nets' point guard, Deron Williams, expressed excitement to work with a great basketball mind via Twitter.

"Excited to get to work under our new head coach @RealJasonKidd great leader and great basketball mind will be a great head coach #BROOKLYN."

The Oklahoma City Thunder's Kevin Durant tweeted Kidd will do unbelievable things as Nets head coach.

"Congrats to Jason Kidd on his new head coaching job...hes a great leader that is going to do unbelievable things in Brooklyn"

The Los Angeles Lakers' Metta World Peace says the new Nets coach will be a complete one and even believes will guide Brooklyn to the NBA Finals next season.

"Wow. Jason Kids going to finals next year. He is going to be a complete coach. He should coach in a nets uniform. So he can sub in."

Even prior to Kidd's hiring, San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich believes Kidd has the intuitive skills to establish a relationship with his players.

"But he certainly has the intuitive skills to know what's going on out there. Obviously,he would be able to have relationships with the players that he's had with his coaches throughout."

The 40-year-old Kidd retired from active NBA play just a few weeks ago and was hired by the Nets on June 12 to be their next head coach. He was reported by ESPN New York to have signed a three-year deal.
