San Francisco 49ers cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha married actress Kerry Washington in Hailey, Idaho last week.

Natalie Finn of E! Online writes the 31-year-old Asomugha and the 36-year-old Washington tied the knot on June 24 in Blaine County, Idaho. Washington, Vanity Fair's August 2013 cover girl, and Asomugha were reportedly dating since last summer

The couple wed on the same day they filed for their marriage license, per Washington's parents, Earl and Valerie, served as official witnesses while a relative of the groom, Chisaraukwu Asomugha from Silver Spring, Md., performed the ceremony which was attended only by closest friends and family members.

This is the first marriage for both. Washington broke up with fiance David Moscow in 2007.

Although Asomugha plays professional football, he has a bit of television celebrity in him as he appeared in acting stints in The Game, Friday Night Lights and Leverage. His new bride recently starred in films such as Peeples and Django Unchained

Both Asomugha and Washington are dedicated activists and philantrophists, per Finn. Since 2009, Asomugha has taken part in the Clinton Global Initiative annually. Washington, on the other hand, addressed the crowd at the 2012 Democratic National Convention.

Asomugha is entering his 11th NFL season. He spent his first eight seasons with the Oakland Raiders before signing with the Philadelphia Eagles. The University of California alumnus is playing in the state again after signing a one-year deal with the 49ers on April 3.

He has amassed 405 tackles, two sacks and 15 interceptions in his NFL career, per ESPN stats.

Poch de la Rosa follows all major U.S. sports: NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL and the NCAA. His favorite teams are the Colts, Braves, Pacers, Sharks and Irish, respectively.
