Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant is now engaged to Minnesota Lynx guard Monica Wright

This is confirmed by UPI's Caroline Dee who says Durant and Wright, now both 24, met seven years ago at the 2006 McDonald's All-American high school showcase in San Diego, Ca. Wright herself made the engagement public after the Lynx beat the Phoenix Mercury 91-59 on Sunday, a game in which she scored 17 points.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune's NBA writer Kent Youngblood tweeted the announcement on Monday.

"Post-game Monica Wright confirmed reports that she and Kevin Durant are engaged. So there's that."

According to USA Today's Sean Highkin, the two have kept their relationship mainly out of the spotlight. However, Highkin also affirms Durant and Wright have indeed been dating since their high school days. Durant attended Montrose Christian (MD) while Wright went to Forest Park HS (Va.).

When Durant donated $1 million to the Oklahoma tornado relief efforts, Wright talked about his compassion

"He's got a heart of gold, and anytime (something like this) happens, he's the first one who wants to help. He's a really compassionate guy."

Durant, who is in his sixth NBA season, averaged 28.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists in 2012-13. Wright is in her fourth WNBA season (all with Minnesota) and is averaging 9.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists through 11 games.
