Camby, who has no desire to land in a rebuilding situation to finish off his 17-year NBA career, was reported to be considering the Houston Rockets - a "leading contender" for his services, per NBC Sports via Fox Sports Houston.
In the report, Camby's agent, Rick Kaplan tweeted his client would be "a great fit with the organization (Houston)." However, he was also quick to add the situation is a bit premature and they will wait and see what happens.
"It's his adopted hometown. It's premature right now. We'll see what happens in the next few days."
On the other hand, Chris Tomasson of Fox Sports Florida says the Heat adding Camby "is a strong possibility." Miami tried to lure him into the fold prior to the 2012-13 NBA season but wound up signing a three-year, $13.2 million deal with the New York Knicks.
Tomasson notes the Heat want to sign Camby to a minimum contract amounting to $1.4 million next season.
Finally, Camby is also reportedly interested in the Chicago Bulls. Although the 39-year-old center is not as productive as he once was, he is a Tom Thibodeau type of player in that he is long defensively and has great instincts in terms of post defense and rebouding, per Chicitysports.com's Shehan Jeyarajah.
Camby's three choices stem from the Toronto Raptors buying out his contract last Wednesday. He was sent to Toronto as part of the deal which had Andrea Bargnani going to New York. He was owed $7.5 million over the final two years of his contract with the Knicks.
He played in just 24 games for the Knicks in 2012-13, averaging just 1.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.6 assists, per ESPN stats.
