Jaromir Jagr is now a New Jersey Devil.
According to Mike Vorkunov of the Star-Ledger, the Devils reached a one-year deal with Jagr, citing an ESPN report. The star right wing reportedly visited the Devils' home arena, the Prudential Center, last week although his agent would not confirm it. All he said was there was a "possibility" he had, per Vorkunov.
"Ok 30-sec break from vacation. Jaromir Jagr has agreed to one-year deal with Devils. Likely won't be officially announced until Tuesday..."
Devils manager Lou Lamoriello would neither confirm nor deny the Jagr acquisition.
"I have no comment on any players that can potentially go anywhere. I have no comment. When, and if, we have transactions, you'll know. But rumors, I don't respond to."
The 41-year-old Jagr's productivity has declined recently due to groin issues. He scored just one goal since he was dealt to the Boston Bruins by the Dallas Stars at last season's trade deadline. He had a total of 16 goals and 19 assists for 35 points in 2012-13.
Jagr enters his 20th NHL season. Aside from the Bruins and Stars, he has played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals, New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers. For his career, he has 681 goals and 1,007 assists for 1,688 points.
