NBA: Grizzlies, G Mike Miller Agree to 2-Year Deal

Guard Mike Miller, who was waived by the Miami Heat due to the amnesty clause, said he will return to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Memphis' WMCTV 5 confirms Miller has reached an agreement with the team, although the Grizzlies have not yet made any formal announcement. He played for Memphis from 2002-08, averaging a career-high 18.5 points per game in the 2006-07 NBA season.

Yardbarker.com reveals the deal is for two years.

Miller himself also affirmed the deal with the Associated Press on Wednesday. This comes a week after the defending NBA champions Miami Heat designated him to be an amnesty player, ending his three-year tenure with them. He is still owed $12 million by the Heat over the next two seasons - an amount which will not count against their salary cap or luxury tax.

He couldn't be more excited about his next tour of duty, per the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel.

"I feel great. I feel great. I'm excited about the next spot. I'm re-energized. I really am. I'm just feeling healthy. I'm ready to play. I started to get back in there again last week and I can't wait to play again next year. Honestly, it's disappointing, because, I think, being a part of this and going for a three-peat would have been an unbelievable ride and a story. But I've been blessed, as well. I came here and got two championships and I can't thank them (Heat) enough for the opportunity."

Miller, who still owns a house in Memphis, reportedly wanted to commit to a contender. The Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets were also seen to be interested in his services.

Him signing with the Grizzlies should be a welcome development after battling an assortment of injuries in the past four seasons, even considering retirement after the Heat's first NBA title in 2012.

The 33-year-old Miller played in 59 games forr Miami in 2012-13, averaging 4.8 points.

Which NBA Superstar Has Better Supporting Cast: Derrick Rose or LeBron James?

Oct 30 2014 3:54pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

In Derrick Rose and LeBron James, both the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers have, respectively, one of the best NBA players on the planet. But these two Eastern Conference heavyweights would not hold that status on the strength of their top players alone. Despite the fact this pair has claimed five of the past six MVP awards (one for Rose, four for James), even the elites need help. And these clubs have assembled a staggering amount of assistance, albeit in differe ...

Q+A: Dion Waiters

Oct 30 2014 11:11am CDT | Source: slamonline

As a new LeBron James Nike banner unfolds across from the arena, and the chalk flies once again at half-court, Dion Waiters will begin his third season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The 2012 fourth overall pick from Syracuse will be playing for his third coach in as many years, now under the tutelage of Euroleague legend David Blatt. On a roster with Mike Miller and Shawn Marion, Waiters will be rounding out a starting five that now includes James a ...

Cavs not looking for more arc types?

Oct 25 2014 5:32pm CDT | Source: TrueHoop

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- LeBron James has already recruited two former members of “The Heatles” -- Mike Miller and James Jones -- to Cleveland. But it looks like he’ll have to hold off on helping to facilitate any other moves to get more of the band back together. The Cleveland Cavaliers announced Saturday that they waived forward Shane Edwards, bringing their roster size to the league maximum of 15. Cavs coach David Blatt made it sound like that’s how the roster would stand goin ...

LeBron: We're Not A Big Three, We're A Big Fifteen

Oct 21 2014 10:12am CDT | Source: RealGM Basketball Wiretap

LeBron James is stressing the importance of the entire Cleveland Cavaliers' roster rather than repeat the Big 3 reputation of the Miami Heat while substituting Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love for Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. "We're not a Big Three, we're a team," James said afterwards. "We're a Big Fifteen." The Cavaliers will need significant contributions this season from the likes of A ...

LeBron James Would Make An Awesome General Manager And Owner

Oct 11 2014 2:11pm CDT | Source: SportsGrid

LeBron James has already disappointed in terms of Champion rings. There’s still plenty of time in his playing career, but probably not enough to surpass Michael Jordan, which was the unfair prophesy. As a player, LeBron will be hard-pressed to pass MJ’s Championship total. But what if James gets more rings after his career is done? What if James gets them as an owner and/or general manager? He’s an incredible manipulator of talent as a player. Where he goe ...

Vince Carter Gives Memphis Grizzlies Exactly What They Need

Oct 9 2014 8:10am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

Seldom do explosive athleticism and career longevity go together in today’s NBA, where having the former almost always means compromising the latter. Vince Carter, on the cusp of his 17th season in the league, is a notable exception. Once the game’s most feared high-flyer, the 37-year-old Carter has steadily augmented his game to become one of the league’s most reliable three-point specialists. So how can the Memphis Grizzlies—so strong on D, so weak with the threes—get the most o ...

Contrasts Between Cavaliers and Heat Compelling Enough Without the Gossip

Oct 9 2014 6:35am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL — The oddity was the honesty.    Erik Spoelstra is not particularly prone to emote from the podium, nor to allow himself to get sucked into what he derisively describes as "storylines." He's more likely to insist something doesn't matter, even when everyone with eyes and ears and sense knows it does, than to allow the slightest hint that it is affecting him or his team. That made it notable for the Miami H ...
