NBA: Grizzlies, G Mike Miller Agree to 2-Year Deal

Guard Mike Miller, who was waived by the Miami Heat due to the amnesty clause, said he will return to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Memphis' WMCTV 5 confirms Miller has reached an agreement with the team, although the Grizzlies have not yet made any formal announcement. He played for Memphis from 2002-08, averaging a career-high 18.5 points per game in the 2006-07 NBA season.

Yardbarker.com reveals the deal is for two years.

Miller himself also affirmed the deal with the Associated Press on Wednesday. This comes a week after the defending NBA champions Miami Heat designated him to be an amnesty player, ending his three-year tenure with them. He is still owed $12 million by the Heat over the next two seasons - an amount which will not count against their salary cap or luxury tax.

He couldn't be more excited about his next tour of duty, per the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel.

"I feel great. I feel great. I'm excited about the next spot. I'm re-energized. I really am. I'm just feeling healthy. I'm ready to play. I started to get back in there again last week and I can't wait to play again next year. Honestly, it's disappointing, because, I think, being a part of this and going for a three-peat would have been an unbelievable ride and a story. But I've been blessed, as well. I came here and got two championships and I can't thank them (Heat) enough for the opportunity."

Miller, who still owns a house in Memphis, reportedly wanted to commit to a contender. The Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets were also seen to be interested in his services.

Him signing with the Grizzlies should be a welcome development after battling an assortment of injuries in the past four seasons, even considering retirement after the Heat's first NBA title in 2012.

The 33-year-old Miller played in 59 games forr Miami in 2012-13, averaging 4.8 points.

Why the Cavaliers Gave Aging Anderson Varejao a $30 Million Contract Extension

Nov 1 2014 5:12pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

With LeBron James in tow, the Cleveland Cavaliers aren't going to be bashful when it comes to signing checks.  Case in point: The Cavaliers officially inked center Anderson Varejao to a three-year extension worth $30 million on Friday.  Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski passed along the contractual details:  On the surface, it's admittedly a puzzling agreement. This season, Varejao's base salary sits at $9.7 million, ...

Cavaliers Show Their Rugged Side in Ragged Win Against Chicago

Nov 1 2014 12:49am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

CHICAGO — Suddenly, for the first time all night, Tristan Thompson showed a touch of shyness. Standing shirtless in the locker room, the 23-year-old from Toronto absolutely warranted the media crowd that gathered in front of his stall. But the Cleveland Cavaliers forward didn't think it was his turn, and certainly not while bare-chested, before his shower.  "You gotta talk now," LeBron James bellowed, from three seats down. ...

Kyrie Irving Asks 'Is This, Like, Similar to What a Playoff Game Feels Like?'

Oct 31 2014 9:19pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

Kyrie Irving is expected to help make the Cleveland Cavaliers a championship contender this season, but he's not used to games with this type of intensity. During Friday's game against the Chicago Bulls, Irving asked teammate Mike Miller if the game had the same feel as a playoff game. Irving has never been to the playoffs before, but there's an extremely good chance that changes this year.[Vine] ...

LeBron James Connects Better with Fans Than Teammates in Opening Loss

Oct 31 2014 12:56am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

CLEVELAND — Four years, three months and 21 days had finally elapsed, so now the countdown could be measured in minutes, and not many at that. The rather spacious party room on the other end of the tunnel was all ready for him, with every seat taken, every supposed sin forgiven and just about every aspect of the celebration carefully scripted. And now, after huddling and addressing his team, LeBron James bounced in place, before playfully p ...

Which NBA Superstar Has Better Supporting Cast: Derrick Rose or LeBron James?

Oct 30 2014 3:54pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

In Derrick Rose and LeBron James, both the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers have, respectively, one of the best NBA players on the planet. But these two Eastern Conference heavyweights would not hold that status on the strength of their top players alone. Despite the fact this pair has claimed five of the past six MVP awards (one for Rose, four for James), even the elites need help. And these clubs have assembled a staggering amount of assistance, albeit in different fashions. The Bulls h ...

Q+A: Dion Waiters

Oct 30 2014 11:11am CDT | Source: slamonline

As a new LeBron James Nike banner unfolds across from the arena, and the chalk flies once again at half-court, Dion Waiters will begin his third season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The 2012 fourth overall pick from Syracuse will be playing for his third coach in as many years, now under the tutelage of Euroleague legend David Blatt. On a roster with Mike Miller and Shawn Marion, Waiters will be rounding out a starting five that now includes James as well as Kevin Love ...

Cavs not looking for more arc types?

Oct 25 2014 5:32pm CDT | Source: TrueHoop

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- LeBron James has already recruited two former members of “The Heatles” -- Mike Miller and James Jones -- to Cleveland. But it looks like he’ll have to hold off on helping to facilitate any other moves to get more of the band back together. The Cleveland Cavaliers announced Saturday that they waived forward Shane Edwards, bringing their roster size to the league maximum of 15. Cavs coach David Blatt made it sound like that’s how the roster would stand going into openi ...

LeBron: We're Not A Big Three, We're A Big Fifteen

Oct 21 2014 10:12am CDT | Source: RealGM Basketball Wiretap

LeBron James is stressing the importance of the entire Cleveland Cavaliers' roster rather than repeat the Big 3 reputation of the Miami Heat while substituting Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love for Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. "We're not a Big Three, we're a team," James said afterwards. "We're a Big Fifteen." The Cavaliers will need significant contributions this season from the likes of Anderson Varejao, Shawn M ...
