NFL: Titans, G Chance Warmack Agree to 4-Year, $12.2-M Deal

Jul 29 2013, 7:43pm CDT | by

The Tennessee Titans and starting right guard Chance Warmack agreed to a four-year, $12.2-million contract on Monday.

The Tennesse Titans and starting right guard Chance Warmack agreed to a four-year deal on Monday.

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean writes the deal is worth roughly $12.2 million with a signing bonus of $7.2 million. Citing sources who are familiar with the situation, Wyatt says the contract is fully guaranteed which includes offset language and a fifth-year option.

Offset language will allowa team to save money on guaranteed portions of the contract if the player is let go and eventually signs with another team.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport adds Warmack will receive $5 million once the deal is signed. He will receive $557,118 before the end of 2013, per ESPN.

The development will allow Warmack to join the Titans' training camp on Tuesday after missing four practices. He did work out in Tuscaloosa with cornerback Dee Milliner, his former teammate with the Alabama Crimson Tide, during his absence.

Once terms of the contract were set and agreed on by both sides, Warmack tweeted he's ready to get started. He said,"Time to get to work!"

Titans head coach Mike Munchak says his rookie right guard will be prepared although his missed time with the team may hurt him.

"I think he's excited about this opportunity. He's a guy that watches a ton of tape. Playing well means a lot to him. I think you saw that in college. I think that's why he was so good in college. He worked at it...I think he'll come in knowing that's a lot expected of him. He knows he's going to get a lot of attention when he comes in, the attention he doesn't really want, but it comes with being in the position he's in.

"We've gotten a lot done in the last five days. That's the hard part. It's hard on coaches. You have to spend a lot of time with him because he's missed so much even though he's been through it one time. There's nothing like this kind of competition...He's good enough to play and help us right away, it just sets everything back."

Warmack started 45 games in college while winning three titles with the Crimson Tide along the way. He earned All-America honors as a senior and was selected by the Titans as the 10th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Why Bishop Sankey Should Thrive as a Rookie for the Tennessee Titans

Jul 13 2014 6:00pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

It was somewhat of a surprise when the Tennessee Titans selected Bishop Sankey in the second round of the NFL draft. It wasn't a surprise that the Titans selected a running back, but it was a surprise that Sankey was the first player at his position to come off the board. There wasn't a consensus option among the media, but Ohio State's Carlos Hyde and Auburn's Tre Mason appeared likelier to go first. Sankey certainly cr ...

Predicting the 10 Most Disappointing NFL Rookies

Jun 10 2014 2:08am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

The NFL draft brings annual hope to every team in the league in the form of draft picks with the potential to immediately make their teams better. Inevitably, that hope turns to disappointment for teams whose rookies fail to live up to immediate expectations. As the number of first-year players making instant impacts in the league seemingly rises each year, so too do the expectations that rookies—especially those drafted in the first or second ro ...

Alabama Football: Any Way You Look at Roster, Crimson Tide Loaded

Jun 4 2014 12:09pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

At the end of spring practices, there was one player from the recruiting class of 2009 remaining on the University of Alabama football roster, although most Crimson Tide fans probably don't remember ever seeing him on the field. He was rated a 3-star player. He's since lined up at two different positions and finally saw his first game action last season. His name? Anthony Orr. It’s almost hard to believe that same recruiting class also had ...
