Bolt wants to dominate the tracks until Rio 2016

Jul 3 2013, 6:56am CDT | by

Paris, July 3 (IANS/CMC) Sprint icon Usain Bolt says he wants to dominate the tracks until the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Paris, July 3 (IANS/CMC) Sprint icon Usain Bolt says he wants to dominate the tracks until the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Bolt made this announcement at a news conference in Paris Tuesday as he prepares to compete at the Areva meeting here Saturday.

"I want to continue dominating until the next Olympics. I have to work hard, train hard and stay focused," Bolt said.

"I've won everything already, but now it's to show that I can be a dominant sprinter."

The Jamaican sprinter looks to be back in shape after his form was questioned following a defeat by American sprinter Justin Gatlin at the Golden Gala on June 6.

Bolt has recovered since then by winning the 200 metres at the Bislett Games and running 9.94 on home soil over 100 metres at the Jamaican trials on June 21.

"I figured out what I needed to do to get back on target," said the six times Olympic champion.

"I've been working hard; I've been focused; I've been sacrificing a lot, so now I'm on target."

Bolt is preparing for next month's World Championships in Moscow by racing the 200 metres in Paris, the ninth leg of the Diamond League.

He will face compatriots Warren Weir and Nickel Ashmeade, along with former 200-metre European champion Christophe Lemaitre of France.

"I really enjoy running big races before World Championships. It tells you where you are and tells you what you need to work on," said Bolt, who turns 27 in August.

"I know these young guys are stepping up and they're going to come running and pushing you to the limits."

After the Areva meeting, Bolt will compete in the 100 and the 4x100 relay in London July 26-27, his final major meeting before the Worlds.

What If Sports Stars Were Fat? Including Rory McIlroy, Henry Shefflin And Tommy Bowe

Sep 16 2014 4:45am CDT | Source: balls

Balls.ie Professional sports stars are like fine-tuned athletic machines. In the modern era of specialised diet programmes and rigorous training regimes, it is a rare sight to see an athlete carrying a bit of extra weight. The novelty of what has become colloquially known as the “fat-lete” has almost become extinct. If you ever wondered, even just out of sheer bitterness, what a certain sporting hero would look like if they were dangerously portly, ...

Chelsea FC: Can the Blues Run Away with the Premier League?

Sep 16 2014 3:30am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

Before we begin, constituting what "running away with the league" means seems paramount. There is no clear-cut definition, but for the purposes of this article—and hopefully our posterity—the scenario could be explained as follows: "A side has ‘run away with their league’ should a distance of at least 10 points exist between them and the runners-up come season’s end." Obviously the mathematics may deceive historians on occasion, but should a team win their domes ...

A Houston man accused of killing his wife will walk free after his attorney persuaded prosecutors Thursday that he could not have committed the crime. Darryl Wayne Tindol, 48, was accused of setting Susan Harper on fire by tossing a flammable liquid on her as she smoked a cigarette in the couple's car.
