New York Knicks guard Raymond Felton has a message for Paul Pierce and the Brooklyn Nets, per ESPN.

"They will never take over the city. Because we've got 'New York' on our chest. They've got 'Brooklyn' on their chest, and we've got 'New York.' They'll never take over the city.'

"He's (Pierce) just trying to talk, talk, talk to fuel the rivalry, which is good. I love it. I think it's good for us, it's good for the whole state, it's good. So whatever---I love it.

"I don't really pay no attention to what Paul is saying. I hear about it, but I don't pay it no attention. It's all fun and games to me."

Felton's comments stem from Pierce's statement two weeks ago confirming his dislike for the Knicks and him predicting that New York City will be dominated by the Brooklyn Nets.

"I think the hate [for the Knicks] has grown a little. Everybody knows how much I disliked the Knicks when I was with the Celtics, but I think it's grown to another level. I think it's time for the Nets to start running this city."

Pierce was also quick to add the Knicks versus Nets rivalry could potentially blossom into the best in all of sports.

"The only thing that separates the two teams is a bridge. And both of them are in the same division and both of them are considered contenders. You can't help but say this is probably gonna be the best rivalry in sports next year."

He was traded a little over a month ago to the Nets in a deal that also had his close friend Kevin Garnett and guard Jason Terry going to Brooklyn.

The Knicks and Nets split their 2012-13 regular season series 2-2. The upcoming season should be an interesting barometer which will indicate which team will eventually run New York City.
