NY Knicks G Raymond Felton: Nets 'Will Never Take Over the City'

Aug 19 2013, 12:11am CDT | by

New York Knicks point guard Raymond Felton fired back at Brooklyn Nets forward Paul Pierce's comments by saying they will "never take over the city."

New York Knicks guard Raymond Felton has a message for Paul Pierce and the Brooklyn Nets, per ESPN.

"They will never take over the city. Because we've got 'New York' on our chest. They've got 'Brooklyn' on their chest, and we've got 'New York.' They'll never take over the city.'

"He's (Pierce) just trying to talk, talk, talk to fuel the rivalry, which is good. I love it. I think it's good for us, it's good for the whole state, it's good. So whatever---I love it.

"I don't really pay no attention to what Paul is saying. I hear about it, but I don't pay it no attention. It's all fun and games to me."

Felton's comments stem from Pierce's statement two weeks ago confirming his dislike for the Knicks and him predicting that New York City will be dominated by the Brooklyn Nets.

"I think the hate [for the Knicks] has grown a little. Everybody knows how much I disliked the Knicks when I was with the Celtics, but I think it's grown to another level. I think it's time for the Nets to start running this city."

Pierce was also quick to add the Knicks versus Nets rivalry could potentially blossom into the best in all of sports.

"The only thing that separates the two teams is a bridge. And both of them are in the same division and both of them are considered contenders. You can't help but say this is probably gonna be the best rivalry in sports next year."

He was traded a little over a month ago to the Nets in a deal that also had his close friend Kevin Garnett and guard Jason Terry going to Brooklyn.

The Knicks and Nets split their 2012-13 regular season series 2-2. The upcoming season should be an interesting barometer which will indicate which team will eventually run New York City.

Can Dallas Mavericks Ride Intangibles to Another Championship?

Sep 11 2014 1:08pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

You'd have to go back to 2011 for a Dallas Mavericks team that had this kind of vibe. And if it was good enough for a championship then, it just might be good enough for another one. Then and now, the Mavs have heart—heart that was on full display as they pushed the San Antonio Spurs seven games in the opening round of last season's playoffs. But Dallas' capacity for overachievement may reach new heights with the return of a center who p ...

Chauncey Billups was way better than all 16 players traded for him

Sep 10 2014 8:54am CDT | Source: SBNation

Chauncey Billups bounced around the NBA before establishing himself as an All-Star guard during an illustrious 17-year career. All of those teams that traded him should be kicking themselves. Chauncey Billups was not particularly productive early in his career. The same could be said for any number of high draft picks, some of whom go on to illustrious careers. But the difference between Billups and the rest is that the Coloradan got moved ar ...

Mavericks 2014-15 Schedule: Top Games, Championship Odds and Record Predictions

Aug 13 2014 5:21pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

The Dallas Mavericks barely qualified for the NBA playoffs last season before pushing the eventual champion San Antonio Spurs to seven games in the opening round. They will look to take another step forward during the 2014-15 campaign. Dallas' offseason moves went a long way in ensuring the team would have a more reliable starting group outside of Dirk Nowitzki and Monta Ellis. Jul 24 2014 6:36pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

The Dallas Mavericks haven't experienced much playoff success since taking down the Miami Heat in the 2011 NBA Finals.  In fact, they've advanced to the postseason in two of the three campaigns that have come to pass since they held up the Larry O'Brien Trophy but haven't even won a single playoff series during those appearances.
