The Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly close to signing free-agent forward Antawn Jamison.

This development was confirmed by ESPN Los Angeles' Ramona Shelburne on Sunday, citing a league source who has knowledge of the situation.

CBS Sports NBA writer Royce Young pointed out on August 16 that the possibility of having Jamison on board all hinges on whether Lamar Odom will accept an offer from the team

Back then, Young wrote Jamison is the Clippers' second choice, citing a report from Yahoo! Sports.

However, Odom's chances of returning to the team seem to be bleak at best

An August 21 report from the Los Angeles Times' Andrew Blankstein reveals Odom had a run-in with a photographer who asked him if he was having an extramarital affair last month. Odom was said to have confiscated the photographer's rolling bag which contained his equipment. He then put the bag in his trunk and then drove off.

He was not charged for the incident due to insufficient evidence.

On August 25, Odom was reported to be missing for three days and was feared to be on "a crack cocaine binge" after his wife, Khloe Kardashian, threw him out of their house, per TMZ via Sports Illustrated.

The 37-year-old Jamison suited up for the Clippers' crosstown rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers, in the 2012-13 NBA season. He played through torn wrist ligaments during the season's second half but managed to average 9.4 points and 4.8 rebounds off the bench.

According to Shelburne, Jamison had offseason surgery and expects to be in top form for the 2013-14 campaign.
