Grand Valley State Lakers defensive lineman Isiah Dunning sustained an unusual injury on Thursday: getting hit by his teammate's pickup truck

According to Peter J. Waller of MLive.com, the injury will force Dunning to sit out four to six weeks. Lakers head coach Matt Mitchell labeled the incident as "very bizarre" and "very frustrating."

Mitchell gave an account of what happened, per Waller.

"Isiah was walking along the grass, stepped out from the curb and Zach Jolly, one of our guys, struck him with a pickup truck. EMS was called and, it was kind of bad at the time, but after the X-rays and CAT scans, it was nothing life-threatening. But he will be out four to six weeks and that's very tough."

Dunning, who dislocated his right shoulder as well as suffered neck pain and back spasms, shared his own side of the story.

"It was just one of those things that happens out of nowhere; I was just hit and was falling toward the ground. My face was falling toward the curb and I put my right arm out to break my fall and that's when my shoulder dislocated.

"I know it wasn't intentional. I know Jolly. He's a good guy. It was an accident, and things happen. But there really wasn't much to say beyond that."

The incident occurredat 8 a.m. as Dunning and his teammates made their way to the campus cafeteria for breakfast. Jolly, a redshirt freshman, was going five miles per hour.

Dunning, a 6'7", 270-pound junior from Grand Rapids, recorded 14 tackles and a sack in 11 games in 2012, per the Grand Valley State University Lakers' official website.
