Apple Harvest Festival 5K, 1K and Kids Fun Run

The Glastonbury Chamber of Commerce will hold the 39th Annual Apple Harvest Festival 5K road races on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Riverfront Park, Welles Street, Glastonbury.

Glastonbury, CT, September 12, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The 5K (3.1 miles) road race/walk will begin at 8:00 a.m. from the ball field at the park. Runners will proceed down by the festival fairgrounds behind the community center and turn right onto Glastonbury Blvd. The route will continue onto Main Street to Pratt Street and will loop around back to the park. $25 online registration is open until October 13; Day of registration is $30. Official 2013 Apple Harvest Festival t-shirts will be provided to the first 150 5K registrants. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. or participants can register online at: https://www.raceit.com/Register/groups/default.aspx?newgroup=true&event=13820

A 1K Youth Race will also take place at 9:30 a.m. following the 5K. This race is open to youth age 13 and under. The 1K (.62 mile) will loop around the fields at Riverfront Park. The entry fee for the 1K is $5 cash on the day of the race. The 1K Youth Race participants can also register online in advance.

All times for the 5K and 1K will be monitored and recorded by Last Mile, with official times posted shortly after the race. Split times for the 5K race will be available at the first and second mile mark on the course. Runners of both races will be entered into categories based on their age the day of the race.

The Kidz Fun Run will begin immediately following the 5K at approximately 8:35 a.m. Youngsters that simply want to have some fun are encourage to enter this short event that will go around the perimeter of a few fields. There is no fee to enter the Kidz Fun Run. An awards ceremony for all race winners will be held at approximately 9:45 a.m.
