Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman reportedly overslept last Monday, causing him to miss a team photo shoot.

Josh Freeman of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers overslept on Monday, resulting in a missed team photo shoot.

This was confirmedby NFL.com's Dan Hanzus, who said the team has addressed the issue internally and that Freeman has a history of being late for other team-related events.

Schiano did say he trusts Freeman, who was not voted team captain for the first time in four years. He also spoke about the players-only meeting that took place last week.

"I do trust Josh. Josh and I share a lot of things together.

"I was aware there was going to be a players-only meeting before the game which I'm always fine with. I trust the players and the leadership, and if the team wants to talk among themselves, I think it's healthy. I was not aware of any question on captain's vote, because there isn't any."

For his part, Freeman went straight to the point, per Hanzus' colleague, Chris Wesseling. He said,"Basically I overslept. Point blank."

Wesseling also adds the missed photo shoot is an incident which the quarterback feels "badly about" and that it, plus the other instances when he was tardy, had nothing to do with him not being team captain anymore.

The Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud writes "Schiano insisted he did not alter the results of the vote" for offensive team captaincy, which had wide receiver Vincent Jackson and guard Davin Joseph winning the honor.

Freeman, who voted for both of them, feels they are "great leaders."

"The simple fact is Davin and Vincent are great leaders. Everybody wants to make it out like it's a demotion. I don't look at it like that. They don't look at it like that. Essentially, the conversations, the day-to-day actions are the same."

The 25-year-old Freeman went just 15-of-31 passing in the Buccaneers' 18-17 loss to the New York Jets last Sunday. He did finish with 210 passing yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Richard Sherman scares QBs away from his side of the field. Photo Credit: Bill Hunter In terms of volume of questions on Twitter and through our “Ask The Xperts”, no team was mentioned more than the Green Bay Packers … and not because of their high-powered offense. Despite a unit that can light up a scoreboard, I was peppered with questions about the start-ability of nearly every skill position player, with the pass catchers being the most comm ...

The It Factor

Aug 27 2014 5:02am CDT | Source: Grantland

If you want to succeed in the NFL, you simply have to have that “It Factor.” The defending Super Bowl champions are led by a quarterback, Russell Wilson, who, Jon Gruden said, “had the ‘it’ factor unlike any quarterback I’ve met.” Bears head coach Marc Trestman says, “The ‘it’ factor is a prerequisite to play quarterback in the NFL.” And conversation about the three first-round quarterback prospects in this year’s draft was dominated by chatter about who ha ...
