Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance Expands Reach to Kitsap Peninsula with the Addition of New West Sound Chapter

Kitsap Mountain Bikers and Ride Kitsap have joined together to become the newest Evergreen Regional Chapter based in Poulsbo.

Seattle, WA, September 26, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Seattle-based nonprofit Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance has just added another new regional chapter: Kitsap Mountain Bikers and Ride Kitsap, based in Poulsbo, have combined and are now Evergreen West Sound. This is the fifth chapter to be added to the Evergreen organization. The others are Central Chapter in Wenatchee, Eastern Chapter in Spokane, Cold Creek Chapter in Battle Ground and Methow Chapter in Winthrop.

Regional chapters give Evergreen the ability to better represent our community and to get more done more efficiently statewide. At the same time, the chapters benefit from Evergreen’s experience, support and reputation when working with politicians and land managers, managing capital projects, and engaging the mountain biking community.

“The riders on the greater Kitsap Peninsula are very active and engaged in protecting, building and maintaining trails, and in building a solid community of mountain bikers,” states Glenn Glover, Evergreen’s Executive Director. “We’re thrilled to have them as part of Evergreen and look forward to supporting them in their efforts.”

Internationally known for creating Colonnade and Duthie Hill mountain bike parks in the Greater Seattle area, with more than 10,000 followers Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance is Washington State’s largest mountain bike organization. Evergreen is dedicated to trail maintenance, education, advocacy, and trail building. Created in 1989 as a nonprofit, grassroots solution to Seattle area trail networks closing to riders, today Evergreen is a valued partner with land managers across the state.

In 2012, Evergreen and it’s volunteer trails crews donated more than 10,000 hours of labor to trail maintenance across Washington, and had more than 600 riders participate in their mountain biking skills classes. Evergreen was also successful in ensuring continued access to existing trails while working to develop new trails for mountain bikers in Tacoma, at Mt Spokane, near Wenatchee and Leavenworth, and on East Tiger Mountain. Funding for Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance projects come from a mixture of grants, federal funding, corporate and individual donations, events and membership fees.
