Four-time NBA MVP LeBron James of the Miami Heat topped global jersey sales, according to the latest sales figures.

The Associated Press points out the jersey sales rankings were based on Adidas' global sales in the 2012-13 NBA season.

James' jersey proved to be more popular than his closest pursuers -- the Chicago Bulls' Derrick Rose and the Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant

Rounding out the top five are Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant and Heat guard Dwyane Wade.

Those who managed to make the top 10 were New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony, Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard (formerly of the Los Angeles Lakers), Brooklyn Nets guard Deron Williams, Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin and Williams' new teammate, Kevin Garnett (formerly of the Boston Celtics).

James said his jersey being proclaimed global best seller means a lot.

"To know that so many people look up to me, so many kids, that's what means more than anything, that I continue to inspire the youth and look at me as role model.

"I understand, when you wear someone's jersey, you actually like believe in them. You believe they can do supernatural things. It's like an extension of our family and I really appreciate that."

Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today Sports writes the U.S. list is comprised of James, Rose, Bryant, Durant and Antony, in that order.

Rose topped the rankings in China, Latin America and Europe, per Zillgitt.

James came in second in China. Bryant, Houston Rockets guard Jeremy Lin and Durant followed suit.

Bryant emerged as runner-up in Latin America while James was second runner-up. Garnett and San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan took the fourth and fifth spots.

The second to fifth spots in Europe were occupied by James, Bryant, Garnett and Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol.

The NBA global jersey rankings are a prelude to the league's Global Games, which kick off on Oct. 5 in Istanbul with the Thunder taking on Turkish team Fenerbahce Ulker.
