Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak insists Matt Schaub is still his starting quarterback.

Kubiak spoke with CBS Houston regarding the matter. He said,"I believe in him as a person. I believe in him as a player."

The head coach pointed out that the Texans' fortunes turned around with Schaub under center, so there's no reason to panic at this point in spite of the quarterback's horrid play.

However, Kubiak also told the Houston Chronicle on Monday that "I'm in the evaluation process" after when asked about Schaub starting.

"I'm trying to help (Schaub) push him through it so our team can push through it. We're all disappointed because we're having to overcome too much."

Schaub threw three picks in the Texans' 34-3 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. He set an NFL record by throwing a pick-six in his fourth consecutive game when his pass was intercepted by the 49ers' Tramaine Brock for a touchdown.

He was yanked by Kubiak for backup T.J. Yates. It was the first time Schaub has ever been benched in his NFL career, per the Houston Chronicle.

Through Week 5 of the 2013 season, Schaub has thrown for 1,366 yards and eight touchdowns. He also has nine interceptions for a quarterback rating of 76.9.
