"The injury occurred on Wednesday afternoon as a result of the thumb becoming caught inside the door jamb of Stuckey's vehicle while the door was closing."
A break in his thumb was revealed. He will undergo surgery on Friday and is expected to sit out for an unspecified amount of time. This marks the second time Stuckey has broken a part of his hand in his pro career. In his rookie year, he had a broken bone in his left hand which forced him to miss 27 games, per Ellis.
The mishap occurs on the same day Detroit head coach Maurice Cheeks praised Stuckey's play after practice. Both he and point guard Brandon Jennings (widom tooth discomfort) sat out the preseason game against the Miami Heat on Thursday.
Kyle Singler took the court in Stuckey's absence.
