Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen has been the subject of trade rumors and could find himself being dealt before Tuesday's trade deadline.

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen could be traded before the Oct. 29 trade deadline.

Yahoo! Sports' Eric Edholm wrote on Oct. 28 that Allen has been the subject of various trade rumors with the Vikings sputtering to a 1-6 start. Edholm adds Allen may not want to be in Minnesota anymore as he is going to be a free agent.

He also expressed his disappointment with his defensive teammates after a 44-31 loss to their NFC North division rivals, the Green Bay Packers. He said,"I've never played on a defense this bad."

Team circumstances may lead to Allen getting traded, but Edholm points out it's not clear "if Allen is trying to get traded." Edholm cites VikingUpdate.com's Tim Yotter, who was able to get Allen's thoughts on the matter.

"Honestly, I'm not even going to address it. I'm not going to speculate on something that I haven't had a conversation about and I'm not going and I'm not going to speculate on something that hasn't happened. I cross all bridges when I get to them and right now I'm trying to figure out a way to make this defense better...

"You know what? It's not even something I've got to worry about right now. I got no control over that stuff. It is what it is."

Allen also spoke with Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press after the game against Green Bay. Tomasson asked the Vikings defensive end if that particular game could have been his last in a Minnesota uniform.

"We'll see. It would be a crappy way to go out, wouldn't it?

"All I'm going to say is nothing surprises me in this league. But it's not a conversation I've had...If something comes along, I'll deal with it when it happens."

ESPN's Ben Goessling wroteon Oct. 29 it make sense to trade Allen on several fronts: more cap space, more playing time for defensive end Everson Griffen and more flexibility in fixing a shoddy defense. He is on the last year of a five-year, $72 million contract.

Could Jared Allen, a five-time Pro Bowler, possibly have played his last down as a Minnesota Viking? Stay tuned.

Oct 14 2014 10:45am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

The Chicago Bears are still looking for their first home win of the season heading into Sunday’s matchup with the Miami Dolphins. The Bears have played four of their first six games on the road, going 3-1 both straight up and against the spread. But Chicago is 0-2 SU and ATS at home and has covered only one of its past 12 at Soldier Field.   Point spread: Bears opened as 3.5-point favorites; the total was 49 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark (line updates ...

Why Stephen Paea Is the Chicago Bears' Most Underrated Player Through 6 Weeks

Oct 14 2014 8:00am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

Stephen Paea deserves your attention. In case you haven't noticed, the four-year defensive tackle is having a Pro Bowl season but remains the most under-the-radar player on the Bears.  Maybe it's the emergence of Willie Young, lack of productivity from Lamarr Houston and Jared Allen or Paea's low-key personality causing him to not get the attention he deserves.  Paea has four sacks through six games from the interior position. Even when ...

QB Matt Ryan Needs Help If Atlanta Falcons Plan to Improve This Season

Oct 13 2014 3:04pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

The Atlanta Falcons are 6-16 over the past 22 games, and the team is getting progressively worse—particularly on the offensive side of the football. After a 27-13 home loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Falcons head coach Mike Smith felt prompted to say, "Our young players, our old players have all contributed to this, and we have to get it fixed, and nothing is off the table in regards to what we have to do to be better." The biggest changes Smith and his ...

Bears Offense Drawing Criticism, but Defense Will Ultimately Be Their Downfall

Oct 10 2014 7:49pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

Over the past two weeks, the offense for the Chicago Bears has received its fair share of criticism. It's well-founded. An offense that was expected to be among the NFL's best has struggled in back-to-back losses, largely due to an appearance by Chicago's arch-nemesis. No, not Lex Luthor. It ain't Doctor Octopus either. "Bad Jay Cutler." However, while everyone wrings their hands about the state of the offense, the fac ...

Chicago Bears vs. Atlanta Falcons: Breaking Down Atlanta's Game Plan

Oct 9 2014 1:46pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

The Falcons have to explode out of the gate in order to beat the Chicago Bears in Atlanta on Sunday. Matt Ryan is on pace to have the best year of his career, and the Falcons look like they have a competent running game to support him for once. They'll have to rely on a makeshift offensive line with multiple injuries along it to hold off a Chicago pass rush that has been inconsistent all season. Atlanta's line has performed better than it has in recent years as its yards per carry ...

Bears bland together on defense

Oct 8 2014 10:12pm CDT | Source: chicago sun-times

Cornerback Tim Jennings called the Bears’ defense vanilla, and coordinator Mel Tucker didn’t apologize for it. The real question, then, is whether the Bears can afford to be vanilla again Sunday, when they play the Falcons, who rank third in the NFL with 30.2 points per game. “This week, I’m curious to see what we’ll do,” defen ...

Chicago Bears: What You Need to Know Heading into Week 6

Oct 7 2014 11:39pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

The Chicago Bears have shown a knack this season for finding the banana peel. It’s been a trying two weeks for a Chicago team that has lost back-to-back games in agonizing fashion. Trailing Green Bay by four at halftime in Week 4, the Bears failed to score another point on the way to a 38-17 loss. And last week against Carolina, the Bears led the Carolina Panthers by two touchdowns until the waning moments of the first half, only to g ...

Bears Defense Must Play Better to Keep Chicago's Playoff Hopes Alive

Oct 6 2014 3:13pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

The Chicago Bears very easily could be 4-1 through five games, not 2-3 with three very ugly losses. In all three losses, the Bears were within one score at halftime, only to get blown out in the second half on the way to the loss. Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Let’s get something straight right now: The Bears need to be better in all three phases of the game. When the season began, we all thought the offense ...
