Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen has been the subject of trade rumors and could find himself being dealt before Tuesday's trade deadline.

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen could be traded before the Oct. 29 trade deadline.

Yahoo! Sports' Eric Edholm wrote on Oct. 28 that Allen has been the subject of various trade rumors with the Vikings sputtering to a 1-6 start. Edholm adds Allen may not want to be in Minnesota anymore as he is going to be a free agent.

He also expressed his disappointment with his defensive teammates after a 44-31 loss to their NFC North division rivals, the Green Bay Packers. He said,"I've never played on a defense this bad."

Team circumstances may lead to Allen getting traded, but Edholm points out it's not clear "if Allen is trying to get traded." Edholm cites VikingUpdate.com's Tim Yotter, who was able to get Allen's thoughts on the matter.

"Honestly, I'm not even going to address it. I'm not going to speculate on something that I haven't had a conversation about and I'm not going and I'm not going to speculate on something that hasn't happened. I cross all bridges when I get to them and right now I'm trying to figure out a way to make this defense better...

"You know what? It's not even something I've got to worry about right now. I got no control over that stuff. It is what it is."

Allen also spoke with Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press after the game against Green Bay. Tomasson asked the Vikings defensive end if that particular game could have been his last in a Minnesota uniform.

"We'll see. It would be a crappy way to go out, wouldn't it?

"All I'm going to say is nothing surprises me in this league. But it's not a conversation I've had...If something comes along, I'll deal with it when it happens."

ESPN's Ben Goessling wroteon Oct. 29 it make sense to trade Allen on several fronts: more cap space, more playing time for defensive end Everson Griffen and more flexibility in fixing a shoddy defense. He is on the last year of a five-year, $72 million contract.

Could Jared Allen, a five-time Pro Bowler, possibly have played his last down as a Minnesota Viking? Stay tuned.

The time we've been waiting weeks—OK, months—for to arrive is finally happening: the opening of the 2014 NFL football season. And, for most of us, that means another, arguably more important arrival: the beginning of the fantasy football.       With Labor Day weekend playing host to a vast majority of drafts and auctions, nearly every league is in place in anticipation for Thursday night's opening kickoff. For fantasy owners, the first week is by far the ...

NFL Power Rankings 2014: Examining Each Team's Status Heading into Week 1

Aug 29 2014 11:30am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

As we head into the 2014 NFL season, one thing is for sure, the Oakland Raiders are still really bad. The team appears to be in disarray at the quarterback position. Matt Schaub's confidence doesn't appear to have been restored, and rookie Derek Carr shows flashes, but he isn't ready to carry an offense that has no reason to believe it'll be good this season. How does the rest of the league st ...

If Michael Sam Gets Cut By The Rams, Who Will Pick Him Up?

Aug 28 2014 10:32am CDT | Source: SportsGrid

On the same day that many outlets, including us, noted that Michael Sam could lose his Rams’ roster spot to undrafted rookie defensive end Ethan Westbrooks, ESPN decided to go with the “When does Sam shower?” angle. For the last few days, ESPN’s ridiculous “reporting” has taken center stage, and perhaps many have forgotten that Sam could be off the team entirely by next week. This wouldn’t be Sam’s fault — he’s played well for the Rams through three preseason games, and lead ...

Should the Minnesota Vikings Be Concerned with LT Matt Kalil?

Aug 27 2014 1:25pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

A few poor plays from Minnesota Vikings left tackle Matt Kalil this preseason has some sounding the alarms and others attempting to extinguish the fire of criticism.  The reality of the situation likely falls somewhere in between the two sides.  Vikings offensive coordinator Norv Turner did not seem at all concerned when asked about his starting left tackle Tuesday. Quite the opposite, actually. "I think [Matt] has been really good, ...

Bears’ old defense seems a step slow

Aug 25 2014 9:08pm CDT | Source: chicago sun-times

MORRISSEY: After Friday’s game, coach Marc Trestman said the defense’s issues were fixable, but how do you fix “slow?’’ How do you fix “older than Methuselah?’’ How do you fix “my bunions are acting up?” Briggs will turn 34 during the season. Tillman is 33, and Jeremiah Ratliff turns 33 on Friday. Jared Allen and D.J. Williams are 32. Jenn ...

NFL Preseason Schedule 2014: Week 4 Matchups, Predictions and TV Info

Aug 25 2014 6:00am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

One week of play stands between fans and the start of the regular season, but Week 4 of the NFL preseason is not something to just skip. More so than any other week of the preseason, jobs are won and lost in the final week. Starters got the lion's share of the work and attention last week, but the slate over the coming days will see hundreds of players lose jobs as front offices cut to just 53 names. So outside of simply trying to stay healthy, the final week has plenty to o ...

Willie Young Proved Value vs. Seahawks

Aug 23 2014 4:01pm CDT | Source: Rant Sports

In last night’s 34-6 loss to the defending champion Seattle Seahawks, the Chicago Bears defense was disappointing. However, there were a few bright spots on that side of the ball. Willie Young was a standout player as he replaced Jared Allen in the starting lineup. Allen is nursing a bruised shoulder and was held out of th ...
