Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen has been the subject of trade rumors and could find himself being dealt before Tuesday's trade deadline.

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen could be traded before the Oct. 29 trade deadline.

Yahoo! Sports' Eric Edholm wrote on Oct. 28 that Allen has been the subject of various trade rumors with the Vikings sputtering to a 1-6 start. Edholm adds Allen may not want to be in Minnesota anymore as he is going to be a free agent.

He also expressed his disappointment with his defensive teammates after a 44-31 loss to their NFC North division rivals, the Green Bay Packers. He said,"I've never played on a defense this bad."

Team circumstances may lead to Allen getting traded, but Edholm points out it's not clear "if Allen is trying to get traded." Edholm cites VikingUpdate.com's Tim Yotter, who was able to get Allen's thoughts on the matter.

"Honestly, I'm not even going to address it. I'm not going to speculate on something that I haven't had a conversation about and I'm not going and I'm not going to speculate on something that hasn't happened. I cross all bridges when I get to them and right now I'm trying to figure out a way to make this defense better...

"You know what? It's not even something I've got to worry about right now. I got no control over that stuff. It is what it is."

Allen also spoke with Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press after the game against Green Bay. Tomasson asked the Vikings defensive end if that particular game could have been his last in a Minnesota uniform.

"We'll see. It would be a crappy way to go out, wouldn't it?

"All I'm going to say is nothing surprises me in this league. But it's not a conversation I've had...If something comes along, I'll deal with it when it happens."

ESPN's Ben Goessling wroteon Oct. 29 it make sense to trade Allen on several fronts: more cap space, more playing time for defensive end Everson Griffen and more flexibility in fixing a shoddy defense. He is on the last year of a five-year, $72 million contract.

Could Jared Allen, a five-time Pro Bowler, possibly have played his last down as a Minnesota Viking? Stay tuned.

Oct 29 2014 12:49am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

The loss of Lamarr Houston couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Chicago Bears. With the highly priced starting defensive end now shelved for the season with a torn ACL, the Bears must scramble together a new rotation of linemen before they take the field against the Green Bay Packers in 12 days. Currently sitting at 3-5 with the bye week upon them, the Bears’ season thus far consists of eight differ ...

Oct 28 2014 12:27pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

When a football team many expected to win double-digit games enters their bye week at 3-5, with failures emanating from every corner of the operation, there is no such thing as a vacation.  That was the message Monday from Halas Hall, as the Chicago Bears attempt to figure out how such a promising season turned into a first-half nightmare, leaving the Bears just one or two more losses away from thinking abou ...

Shopping for Buccaneers: Why the NFL Trade Deadline Is Deadly Dull

Oct 28 2014 6:10am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

It's the NFL trade deadline. Do you know where your broken-down Buccaneers veterans are?  The NFL trade deadline is the league's Shakespeare-on-the-Internet production of Much Ado About Nothing. It's a hurry-up-and-wait order for the football media; we pass along rumors and write speculative articles that read like fanfic for lovelorn Vincent Jackson/Kansas City Chiefs 'shippers. The trade deadline is the one event ...

For the second time in the 2014 NFL season, a defensive player's year has abruptly ended due to a botched celebration. Chicago Bears Bye Week Couldn't Come at a More Perfect Time

Oct 27 2014 1:42am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

Who would have thought the Chicago Bears would leave Foxborough in worse shape than they arrived? Sunday’s 51-23 loss to the New England Patriots is jaw-dropping. But it’s the way in which the Bears lost that makes the jaw drop most. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw for 354 yards and five touchdowns. Tight end Rob Gronkowski caught all nine of his targets for 149 yards and three touchdowns. The Bears defense had no answer for the Patriots’ dynamic duo. Bears quarterba ...
