The Hague, Nov 3 — AZ Alkmaar grabbed the lead in the Dutch Eredivisie Saturday by beating ADO Den Haag 2-0, while former leaders FC Twente drew 2-2 against NEC Nijmegen.

Nemanja Gudelj opened the scoring for AZ just before halftime and in the second half Johann Berg Gudmundsson made it 2-0. The Icelandic forward found the net with a 30-meter strike. AZ booked their third victory in a row under new coach Dick Advocaat, reported Xinhua.

Also Saturday Ajax had another disappointing match. After two draws in a row coach Frank de Boer's side seemed to draw again at home against Vitesse. However, Valeri Qazaishvili produced a stunning winning goal for Vitesse in the 90th minute to wrap up the 1-0 victory.

FC Twente had a very good first half against NEC and went ahead 2-0 after goals from Shadrach Eghan and Quincy Promes. After halftime the spectators in Enschede saw a totally different match. Soren Rieks and Jakob Jantscher scored for NEC to make it 2-2.

With Karim Rekik back from an ankle injury PSV hoped to stop a streak of two defeats and they did. The result against PEC Zwolle was nevertheless disappointing 1-1. Jeffrey Bruma headed in the early PSV goal, but Fred Benson equalized for PEC. The latter received his second yellow booking five minutes from time.

AZ became already the sixth leaders in this Eredivisie season after Ajax, FC Groningen, PSV, PEC Zwolle and FC Twente. The Alkmaar based side now have 22 points from 12 matches, one point ahead of Vitesse, two ahead of FC Twente and three ahead of PSV, Ajax and PEC Zwolle.
