First, it was Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning. Now, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles -- a virtual unknown to many -- threw seven touchdown passes in the Eagles' 49-20 road win over the Oakland Raiders.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles threw for seven touchdowns in the Eagles' 49-20 win over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, tying an NFL record.

Foles matched Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning's seven touchdown passes on Opening Day against the defending Super Bowl champions Baltimore Ravens o Sept .6. Foles' last touchdown pass of the game -- a five-yard pass to Riley Cooper -- came with 4:28 left in the third quarter.

All in all, the Eagles' second-year quarterback went 22 of 28 for 406 yards. He also tied an Eagles team record which was first set by Adrian Burk against the Washington Redskins in 1954.

What's even more remarkable is that Foles joins Manning and former New York Giants quarterback Y.A. Tittle as the only men to pull off the feat without throwing a single interception.

Most of Foles' throws were to Cooper, who, by virtue of his quarterback's historic feat, enjoyed a career day of his own with three touchdown receptions for 139 yards. Wide receiver DeSean Jackson also had a great day, finishing with one touchdown courtesy of Foles and 150 yards.

The other Eagles who caught Foles' touchdown passes were LeSean McCoy, Zach Ertz and Brent Celek.

Foles' re-writing of the record books happens a week after he missed last week's game against the New York Giants after he sustained a concussion a week before against another NFC East rival, the Dallas Cowboys.

In that game, was just 11 of 29 for 80 yards, a sharp contrast to his performance against the Raiders.

Foles didn't get a chance to throw for an eighth touchdown pass as he was replaced by Matt Barkley in the fourth quarter.

Packers' Perfectionist QB Aaron Rodgers Scorches His Way into MVP Conversation

Oct 20 2014 11:29am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

You could see it in his face on the field, and you could hear it in his voice at the postgame podium. Aaron Rodgers, the Green Bay Packers' perfectionist quarterback, was one slightly overthrown end-zone pass away from the perfect game Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. Instead, Rodgers had to settle for three touchdown passes, three incompletions and a passer rating of 154.5 in a 38-17 thrashing of the Panthers that has once again pushe ...

Comparing Aaron Rodgers' 2014 Performance to His 2011 MVP Season

Oct 20 2014 7:31am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

The 2011 NFL season was one for the ages for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. In that season, Rodgers threw 45 touchdown passes versus just six interceptions for 4,643 yards. That added up to a passer rating of 122.5, which is the best single-season mark in NFL history. That also led to Rodgers being named the NFL MVP for the 2011 season. The 2014 season didn't start as smoothly as the 2011 season did for No. 12, but through seven games now, ...

NFL Week 8 Picks: Early Predictions for Every Game

Oct 20 2014 7:00am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

After several Week 7 contests were decided in the waning seconds of action, the remaining weeks of the 2014 season may as well come with a warning label—this kind of excitement isn't for the faint of heart. The NFL continues to provide a very diverse slate of games. While some contests did, indeed, come with breathtaking conclusions, others were just one-sided affairs right out of the gate—although, these were not easily predicted. A ...

Chip Kelly, Eagles Offense Fueled by Use of Tight Ends

Oct 14 2014 12:40am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

Upon hiring Chip Kelly in 2013, the Philadelphia Eagles wasted little time providing their new head coach with an array of talent at the tight end position. With Brent Celek already in-house, the front office signed James Casey to a free-agent contract and spent a second-round draft pick on Zach Ertz during that first offseason. While the position hasn’t quite been the key to Kelly’s offense the way it appeared it ...

Eagles Flash Brilliance in Total Domination of New York Giants on SNF

Oct 12 2014 11:42pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

This is what we expected from the Philadelphia Eagles this season. Against the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football, head coach Chip Kelly's boys shut out the New York Giants 27-0. It was the first time this season that the Eagles went up against a quality opponent and simply got the job done in all three phases of the game. Rewind to last week and remember how the Eagles allowed the St. Louis Rams to hang ...

Eli Manning and the New York Giants got blanked by the Philadelphia Eagles defense and a creative offense in Philadelphia, 27-0. Eli Manning and the New York Giants were coming off three straight wins, but they ran into a brick wall in Philadelphia. They mustered only 253 yards of offense and endured ugly special teams while getting blanked, 27-0, by the Eagles in primetime. Here's what we learned ...

New to Mile High Report? Sign up here and join the discussion! The Denver Broncos had an off game today, but still held on for a respectable road win against a team in a free fall right now in the New York Jets. Peyton Manning should at least tie the touchdown record next week against the San Francisco 49ers. Wes Welker's third down catch at the two minute warning sealed the deal - his first catch of the day too - and the Broncos are now 4-1. Then Aqib Talib takes one t ...

Sunday Night Football, Giants vs. Eagles 2014: The battle for the NFC East takes over primetime

Oct 12 2014 7:30am CDT | Source: SBNation

The Cowboys and Eagles are the talk of division, but the G-men are quietly mounting a run for the NFC East. Just like that, the NFC East is no longer the laughing stock of the NFL. After suffering through a cumulatively miserable 2013, the division is off to a fast start this season (with the exception of 1-4 Washington, of course). The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles have each jumped out to 4-1, ...

Oct 10 2014 2:41pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

Colin Delaney is a 15-year-old battling leukemia. His road to recovery is long and arduous, but the Philadelphia Eagles are hoping to ease that journey, if for just one day. On Friday, the team signed Colin to a one-day contract that will allow him to join the Eagles on the sideline for Sunday night's game against the New York Giants. That's not all. He recently got to play flag football as part of an Eagles-sponsored ca ...
