First, it was Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning. Now, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles -- a virtual unknown to many -- threw seven touchdown passes in the Eagles' 49-20 road win over the Oakland Raiders.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles threw for seven touchdowns in the Eagles' 49-20 win over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, tying an NFL record.

Foles matched Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning's seven touchdown passes on Opening Day against the defending Super Bowl champions Baltimore Ravens o Sept .6. Foles' last touchdown pass of the game -- a five-yard pass to Riley Cooper -- came with 4:28 left in the third quarter.

All in all, the Eagles' second-year quarterback went 22 of 28 for 406 yards. He also tied an Eagles team record which was first set by Adrian Burk against the Washington Redskins in 1954.

What's even more remarkable is that Foles joins Manning and former New York Giants quarterback Y.A. Tittle as the only men to pull off the feat without throwing a single interception.

Most of Foles' throws were to Cooper, who, by virtue of his quarterback's historic feat, enjoyed a career day of his own with three touchdown receptions for 139 yards. Wide receiver DeSean Jackson also had a great day, finishing with one touchdown courtesy of Foles and 150 yards.

The other Eagles who caught Foles' touchdown passes were LeSean McCoy, Zach Ertz and Brent Celek.

Foles' re-writing of the record books happens a week after he missed last week's game against the New York Giants after he sustained a concussion a week before against another NFC East rival, the Dallas Cowboys.

In that game, was just 11 of 29 for 80 yards, a sharp contrast to his performance against the Raiders.

Foles didn't get a chance to throw for an eighth touchdown pass as he was replaced by Matt Barkley in the fourth quarter.

Updating Philadelphia Eagles' Key Position Battles Early in Training Camp

Jul 28 2014 12:00am CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

Nick Foles of the Philadelphia Eagles
Training camp for the Philadelphia Eagles this year won’t be quite as newsworthy as last year’s camp. In Chip Kelly’s first season as head coach, a daily quarterback competition between Michael Vick and Nick Foles stole the headlines. The 2014 camp will lack the publicity, although there are a handful of position battles set to take place. These battles more provide depth; outside of safety, none of these competitions will determi ...

Jul 22 2014 1:08pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

Nick Foles of the Philadelphia Eagles
If Nick Foles’ 2013 season is any indication, the Philadelphia Eagles are primed to have several players break out in the second year of the Chip Kelly era. Zach Ertz, Cedric Thornton and Mychal Kendricks are just a few of the candidates who have a shot at reaching NFL stardom with another offseason under their belts. Of course, not every Eagles player can be listed—only those who satisfy the criteria below most effectively will grab a spot in these rankings. The pla ...

Philadelphia Eagles' 5 Players Facing Make or Break Training Camps

Jul 15 2014 10:13pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

Nick Foles of the Philadelphia Eagles
With training camp right around the corner, there are not a lot of open roster spots on the Philadelphia Eagles. The reigning NFC East division champions basically have all 22 starters locked in on offense and defense, with most of the key reserves already set in stone too. Its team bringing back every player would be good news for any NFL fanbase. You don't want to head into camp with five or six open starting jobs open on both offense and defense. And yo ...

5 Biggest Areas of Concern for Philadelphia Eagles Heading into Training Camp

Chicago Bears v Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles should be able to win the division in 2014. The explosive offense that won 10 games a year ago is nearly intact. Despite the loss of playmaking receiver DeSean Jackson (released) and right tackle Lane Johnson (four-game suspension), this unit could be even better. It’s the second year of Chip Kelly’s offense, and the hurry-up offense should be even more effective. Nick Foles has a ...

Philadelphia Eagles: Breakdown and Depth Chart Analysis at Wide Receiver

Jun 15 2014 8:57pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

Nick Foles of the Philadelphia Eagles
Chip Kelly’s most controversial decision as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles came when he released three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DeSean Jackson. Jackson was coming off career-best numbers (82 receptions for 1,332 yards) and had played a major role in the development of quarterback Nick Foles. The actual decision for releasing Jackson likely combines an element of his salary, his less-than-ideal frame an ...

Philadelphia Eagles: What to Make of Early Reports from OTAs

Jun 11 2014 8:21pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

Nick Foles of the Philadelphia Eagles
If there’s one thing NFL fans should know by now, it’s that preseason and training camp don’t make a season. Look no further than last year when Michael Vick beat out Nick Foles to be the starting quarterback; Foles went on to post the third-greatest passer rating in the history of the league. Still, it’s always interesting to keep up with the latest news from organized training activities, if for no reason other than it signals the season kickoff is nearing. The ...
