Jacoby Ellsbury has agreed to a seven-year, $153 million deal with the New York Yankees, per multiple reports.

Center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury is no longer a member of the Boston Red Sox. He has reportedly agreed to a massive, seven-year deal with Boston's arch-nemesis, the New York Yankees.

The signing hasn't yet been officiallly announced by the Yankees as Ellsbury has a pending physical with them. Nonetheless, Bryan Hoch of the Yankees' official website offers more insight in his Dec. 3 update:

"A source confirmed that the Yankees and Ellsbury's agent, Scott Boras, have agreed upon the framework of a deal that will pay Ellsbury $153 million guaranteed through the 2020 season. There is also an option for an eighth year that could raise the total value of the agreement to $169 million."

David Waldstein of the New York Times reports Ellsbury was on his way to New York from Phoenix for his physical, citing two team sources who requested anonymity as they were not given authorization "to speak about the matter."

Waldstein also adds Ellsbury would start at center field with Brett Gardner moving "to a corner spot or possibly be used in a trade," noting the similarities in the two players' games.

For his part, ESPN New York's Jerry Crasnick believes the Yankees' latest signing would result in Gardner moving over to left field. He also points out with Ellsbury on board, the team "has become increasingly pessimistic" about re-signing prized second baseman Robinson Cano, who is after a 10-year $310 million deal.

Crasnick's sources tell him the Seattle Mariners are in a good position to go after Cano and offer him $200 million over a span of eight years, beating out the maximum offer which the Yankees can give out which is $175 million.

Aside from Cano, the Yankees are also said to be interested in free-agent outfielder Shin-Soo Choo. However, Crasnick maintains "it's not immediately" clear whether the Ellsbury deal will get in the way of either Cano or Choo donning Yankees pinstripes.

The team is also eyeing Japanese pitching sensation Masahiro Tanaka.

To further complicate matters, the team signed former Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann to five-year, $85 million contract, upping their current payroll to $138 million for 10 players.

However, the New York Daily News' Mark Feinsand wrote on Dec. 3 that "the Yankees insist they can still re-sign Cano and stay beneath the $189 million luxury tax threshold."

Ellsbury beomes the latest player to make the switch from the Red Sox to the Yankees, joining the ranks of Babe Ruth, who became a Yankee in 1919, and Johnny Damon, who signed with the Bronx Bombers in 2006.

The 30-year-old Ellsbury batted .298 in 134 games for the Red Sox in 2013 after playing in just 74 games the year before due to injuries. His best season in the majors was in 2011, when he batted .321 and hit 32 home runs with 105 RBIs, making the American League All-Star team in the process. He also finished second in AL MVP voting that year.

For his seven-year MLB career, he has batted .297 with 65 home runs and 314 RBIs, per ESPN stats.
