Job security is apparently not the first thing in Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak's mind.

According to Jim Wyatt of The Tennesseean, Munchak "feels the Titans are headed in the right direction." The head coach will use the outcome of the seaon's final three games as leverage when he meets with management concerning his job.

However, Wyatt argues a potential three-game winning streak -- something Tennessee has done just once under Munchak -- may not be enough to state the Titans mentor's case. The team got off to a 3-1 start before going 2-7 in its last nine.

That brings Munchak's overall head coaching record in Nashville to 20-25 (.444).

In spite of this, he remains unfazed when he spoke with Wyatt.

"We have three games to go. We have a lot of football to play, so that is not a concern right now. Once we play our last game, we'll have an opportunity to speak on how we go forward as a football team like I did last year and the year before that.

"I've had the same discussion when the season ends and I'm assuming I'll have that same discussion when the season ends.

"I'll have a chance to talk to everybody then and say 'Here's what happened. Here's how we go forward. Here's the plan' And then a decision is made and we'll move forward.

"I think we have to be 8-8. I am not worried about my job for 8-8, but we need to be 8-8. We have worked too hard. At this point that's the best we can do.

"So that's what our goal is, to win these three games...it is not about to save this, to save that, it's about going forward for next year."

On the other hand, NFL.com's Marc Sessler cites his colleague, NFL media columnist Adam Silver, in his Dec. 8 update. Silver quipped on NFL Network's GameDay First that there is "a lot of dissatisfaction" within the Titans organization which may result in Munchak not coaching the team beyond 2013.

In his Dec. 10 article, Sessler emphasizes Munchak's inability to beat teams in the Titans' division, the AFC South, including the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans. Tennessee has gone a paltry 1-10 in its last 11 games against AFC South foes.

As such, Munchak's fate hangs very much in the balance.

Whatever the case may be, Silver also reports running back Chris Johnson (who will be paid $8 million in 2014) won't be returning for the Titans next season. He also adds Tennessee is also seriously considering would-be free agent quarterback Jay Cutler, per Sessler.

This is because the team isn't inclined to pick up the $13 million option on injured quarterback Jake Locker, according to the same article.
