The United States' Bode Miller may have competed in his final Olympic Games after he tweaked his surgically-repaired left knee in the giant slalom on Feb. 19.

An Associated Press report indicates Miller placed 26th in the opening grand slalom leg when the injury occurred:

"Bode Miller will skip the last Alpine race at the Sochi Olympics, the slalom, after tweaking his surgically-repaired left knee during Wednesday's giant slalom.

"Miller was 26th in the opening GS leg, finishing in 1 minute, 23.64 seconds, more than 2.5 seconds slower than leader Ted Ligety.

"Given that he'll be 40 during the 2018 Winter Games, the GS might have been Miller's last Olympic race.

"Miller owns a U.S.-record six Olympic Alpine medals, including a bronze in the Super-G last weekend that made him the oldest ski racer to win a Winter Games medal. He said Wednesday that his knee bothered him after that race, and it's been swollen during the Sochi Olympics.

"He missed all of last season while coming back from a knee operation."

According to Yahoo! Sports' Charles Robinson, the 36-year-old Miller was planning on having his knee drained after the second run of the giant slalom. He would then make a decision whether to compete on Saturday, Feb. 22, in the men's slalom event.

However, knee issues forced him to withdraw from Olympic competition in Sochi. Miller has no regrets when he spoke with Robinson.

"It's tough to have my last race look like this, but I feel really good where I'm at. You know, I came back strong. I really did a lot of work and I put in the time. It's a positive feeling. I feel like I did my best."

Nonetheless, David Leon Moore of USA Today Sports interviewed U.S. men's coach Sasha Rearick, who said Miller has been an inspiration to skiing fanatics everywhere.

"The fanatics of skiing love watching Bode. He's an inspirational skier. He's brought fans to the sport. They absolutely love him because he brings charisma and inspiration in the way he skis and it's fun to watch."
