SpiceRoads Cycle Tours launches Sri Lanka Heritage, a bike tour that introduces the best scenery, historic sites, art and culture of this fascinating country.

Bangkok, Thailand, April 04, 2014 --(PR.com)-- SpiceRoads Cycle Tours, the leading bicycle tour operator in Asia for more than a decade, offers a comfortable 7-day itinerary that connects riders to Sri Lanka’s UNESCO World Heritage sites, bringing them in touch with the locals, and offers opportunities to experience the exquisite cuisine and to soak up the atmosphere.

Sri Lanka, the ‘Teardrop of India’, is a collection of ancient and natural delights. The island country sits tantalizingly just off India’s most southern tip and is nothing short of a jackpot for heritage lovers as they cycle from religious monuments, to monarchical and colonial sites.

Bicycling short distances at a relaxed pace, the tour will visit five of Sri Lanka's eight UNESCO World Heritage sites. Along the way the cyclist will experience the rural tranquility of local life and absorb a very traditional and grassroots feel of Sri Lanka. Included are visits to the beautiful old town of Kandy located on a picturesque lake, Dambulla's Golden Temple and a wildlife safari in Minneriya National Park. The tour concludes with a visit to the extraordinary UNESCO heritage site Anuradhapura where its palaces, monasteries and monuments serve as a principal shrine of Buddhism.

This 7-day tour covers 222 kilometres and cost US$1,495 per person with an additional US$295 for single supplement. Included is bike rental, accommodation, most meals, drinks and snacks while riding. Scheduled departures are in the months of January, February, May, June, and September to December.

To introduce this new tour SpiceRoads is offering a 10% discount off any 2014 Sri Lanka Heritage tour. Bookings must be made by April 30 with the use of promo code SLHERITAGE. (This cannot be used in conjunction with any other discounts.)

Sri Lanka is the sixth country that SpiceRoads Cycle Tours offers a 7-day heritage tour. The other countries with heritage tours are Burma, Bhutan, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam.
