Rookie inside linebacker C.J. Mosley signed a four-year, $8.878 million contract with the Baltimore Ravens on May 27.

Rookie inside linebacker C.J. Mosley signed a four-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens on May 27.

According to Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official website, Mosley's deal is worth $8.878 million with a $4.711 million signing bonus:

"Inside linebacker C.J. Mosley is officially, officially, a Raven.

"The first-round pick has inked his rookie contract. It's a four-year deal with a club option for a fifth season, the same as every first-round pick.

"The team does not release salary figures. According to the collective bargaining agrement (CBA) that slots rookie salaries by their draft position, Mosley is signed for $8.878 million with a signing bonus of $4.711 million.

"Mosley is the first AFC North first-round pick to be signed. He'll be on the field at the start of this week's organized team activities. Because of the new CBA that froze rookie salaries, long negotations and holdouts are a thing of the past.

"With Mosley's signing, the Ravens now have just one rookie left to get under contract. Third-round safety Terrence Brooks has not yet signed, which could be partly because he was away from the team for the birth of his and his fiancee's baby.

"Mosley is the Ravens' highest draft pick since defensive tackle Haloti Ngata (No. 12 overall) in 2006. He's only 21 years old, so there's plenty of football left in Mosley's future.

"Mosley was named college football's top inside linebacker last year as the winner of the Dick Butkus Award. He was in the middle of an Alabama defense that secured back-to-back championships in 2011 and 2012.

"Pundits widely expected Mosley to become an immediate starter this season. He'll compte with last year's second-round pick, Arthur Brown, for the spot next to veteran Daryl Smith."

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh told Mink that Mosley's development and knowledge of the game is impressive.

"Probably the first impression is that he seems very comfortable in a defense. He understands the game very well. So, he's really been well-coached, obviously, down (at Alabama).

"It's not like he doesn't know what gap he is fitting in. It's not like he doesnt' know what adjustment to make. That's a long way ahead for a rookie. Plus, he is athletic, and he moves around very well."

With Mosley officially on board, ESPN's Jamison Hensley reports Baltimore has now signed a total of eight draft picks:

-- ILB C.J. Mosley: four years, $8.878 million with $4.711 signing bonus

-- DT Timmy Jernigan: four years, $4.382 million with $1.507 million signing bonus

-- TE Crockett Gillmore: four years, $2.906 million with $606,376 signing bonus

-- DT Brent Urban: four years, $2.52 million with $300,584 signing bonus

-- RB Lorenzo Taliaferro: four years, $2.52 million with $300,584 signing bonus

-- G-C John Urschel: four years, $2.364 million with $144,560 signing bonus

-- QB Keith Wenning: four years, $2.324 million with $104,072 signing bonus

-- WR Michael Campanaro: four years, $2.287 million with $67,500 signing bonus

Baltimore Ravens vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Breaking Down Tampa Bay's Game Plan

Oct 7 2014 11:03pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers return home from a three-game road trip with a 1-4 record, welcoming the 3-2 Baltimore Ravens to Raymond James Stadium before heading into their bye week. Last week, the Bucs won the turnover battle and showed they could hang with Drew Brees in a shootout, but penalties and poor fundamentals down the stretch led to a 37-31 overtime loss to their NFC South rivals. Tampa Bay will face a Ravens team that saw a three-game winning streak come to an end in a 20-13 road loss ...

Ravens' Weaknesses Turning Them into Mediocre Team

Oct 7 2014 2:02pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

After five games, the Baltimore Ravens are a highly respectable 3-2 in a very competitive AFC North. Prior to meeting the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5, they were coming off a dominant win over the Carolina Panthers.  Steve Smith Sr. brought needed fire to the receiving corps, rookie linebacker C.J. Mosley looks like not just a long-term starter but also a star, and the run game, featuring a trio of running backs, brought balance to the offense. But the Ravens' 20-13 l ...

Monday Morning Uni Watch

Sep 29 2014 7:31am CDT | Source: uni watch

My favorite uni-related moment from yesterday’s NFL action, hands down, came during the Bills/Texans game, when a Buffalo trainer turned his posterior to the camera and revealed that he had missed a belt loop (click photo at right to enlarge). When I tweeted that photo yesterday afternoon, one of the many responses was, “Slow uni news day.” And yeah, as it turned out, yesterday was a pretty uni-unventful day ar ...

Why Nate Irving Is Denver Broncos' Most Pleasant Surprise After 3 Weeks

Sep 23 2014 9:14pm CDT | Source: Bleacher Report

Over the course of his first three years in the league, Nate Irving was largely seen as a disappointment in Denver. After all, he had recorded just 58 tackles and one sack after the Broncos used a third-round pick on him in 2011. In that time, the Broncos have used guys like Joe Mays, Keith Brooking, Wesley Woodyard and even Paris Lenon at the middle linebacker position that was supposed to belong to Irving coming out of North Carolina ...

Ravens overcome Rice distraction, beat Steelers

BALTIMORE — The dismissal of Ray Rice wasn’t a distraction for the Baltimore Ravens. Ultimately, it served as inspiration. Playing a pivotal divisional game three days after the release of the star running back, Baltimore got a pair of touchdown passes from Joe Flacco and rolled past the rival Pittsburgh Steelers 26-6 on Thursday night. Rice was reaching the end of a two-game suspension for domestic violence when a video of him st ...
