Robbie Maddison Surfs Giant Wave on a Dirt Bike

Robbie Maddo Maddison had a Pipe Dream. For nearly two years Maddo has worked on making surfing on his motorbike a reality. He actually pulled it off and the results are incredible.

A video sponsored by DC Shoes has been released on the weekend showing Maddison riding the world famous waves at Teahupoo and Papara, Tahiti.

The dirt bike has special boards at the bottom that make it swim. The rear tire has been modified to work like a water wheel. This modification appears to be pretty solid appears to be ready for retail. Possibly Maddison just kicked off a new extreme sport.

The behind the scenes video below reveals that the journey to get to a working surfing dirt bike has been long and hard.

Robbie Maddison is a 34-year-old Australian motorbike rider. He rose to fame after winning Gold in the X Games of 2004. On the 40th anniversary of Evel Knievel jumping the fountains at Caesars Palace stunt, Maddison broke the world motorcycle jumping record with 98.34m on a motorbike.

In 2009 he jumped over London’s Tower Bridge and in 2010 he was first person to jump the start gantry at the Formula One in Melbourne, Australia.

Maddison also was the motorbike stunt double for Daniel Craig in Skyfall. He was the guy riding on the roofs of Instambul. All these achievements make the Pipe Dream fit right in.
